This. I do try to keep the screaming to a dull roar, but the running doesn't bother me. My kids are little though, 3 and 5. They fall into absolute FITS of laughter if I drop the dishes and just tear after them on one pass around the house.

They get told all day to sit still and listen (in school). I'm fine with some running around the house after dinner like crazy people. It's good sibling bonding.

There’s a difference between being loud and screaming. No one should have to endure your kids screaming in the backyard.

I work with young kids, yes, they all scream. I think our definitions of scream are different but yes, generally speaking they all scream.

Yes! Some kids don't by nature. But some kids are just wild. I have one, maybe two of the wild ones, and one calm child whom it would never occur to do to this without the sibling influence.

It is annoying, but I have bigger battles to pick. As long as they aren't being destructive, hurting each other, or other wise interfering with something (husband on a conference call, etc.), I let the noise and running slide.

Occasionally. In Winter or when having weeks on a rain on end, we would have races with the kids running laps in a circle around the kitchen - living room - dining room, and we would tell them they had to do 17 laps (or some random number). As they ran around we'd congratulate them, cheer them on, and tell them to go faster. A great way to get the wiggles out!

I let my kids scream in the house and not outside because I care too much what other people think.

I was always taught as a kid that there isn't an appropriate place for screaming. If you're indoors, it's too loud, so it's not respectful of other people who have to share the space with you. It doesn't matter if you're in your own home, someone else's home, or at school. If you're outdoors and you start screaming, it's hard for other people to tell if it's fun scream or if it's an "I'm hurt" scream. I live in an urban neighborhood now, and one of my peeves is kids screeching after school. I'm totally accustomed to noise, like leaf blowers, garbage trucks, and buses; I certainly do not expect silence. But I hear blood-curdling screams from kids a few times a month and go bolting outside praying no one's been hit by a car or bitten by a dog, and it's always just horseplay.
