I wouldn't go unless the parents rented the entire rink time out for only party attendees and the kids were mostly similar age. Otherwise, she is going to be in the way of others skating fast.
My 8 yr old got 8 stitches in her chin at the last skating party we went to.

Call the family and give them the reason you are cancelling. For FWIW, I think a skating for 4 year old is nuts.

Although I should note I still can't "hockey stop" so I don't necessarily RECOMMEND this method of learning. I'm more just saying that walker thingy isn't necessary to learn how to go.

I'm pretty sure I learned how to ice skate (in Florida no less!) by holding onto the wall and creeping around the rink until gaining the confidence to give it a go. Never used any sort of aid.

Check in with the mom. Plan to arrive maybe 20 minutes before the cake. Skate for a little while with him and then enjoy the other part of the party.

Call the rink and ask them how the party works—if there’s an instructor, a separate area, etc.
my DD and I both went ice skating for the first time when she was 4 and we were gone—stuck to the walls, etc.

I don't understand this position. If the rink is roped off for them and they have an instructor teaching, honestly 4 yrs old is a great age to start skating. Put her in a snowsuit and gloves and a helmet and she will be fine. At 3 my yds was in a skating class and they had them skate to one side, pick up little toys and skate over to put them back in the basket. I am sure there were more activities because it was a 6 wk class, but that's all I remember now! No skating aids. Skating is fine for 4 yr olds.
Maybe he was 4 or almost 4, actually.
