It's highly unlikely this is correct information. That being said it doesn't seem like the PTA would have anything to do with this kind of issue.

Private. They say 10 but I think they will allow more. DC is applying to 9: 3 reach, 3 match and 3 safety.

Ours (a good public in Montgomery County) had no limit. In fact, my kid had chosen 7 (which would have been ideal) but they counsellor said, "We like people to apply to 10"

That added stress to her senior year, and was not necessary, since she got into 7 schools.

Public schools are not allowed to limit transcripts request or who applies where. I do believe OP.

They might charge you more after the first few, but they can't limit.

That was my thought. 6 free transcripts.

I looked up Churchill. They have a copy of a recent parent presentation that says 6-8 applications is ideal, but there is no indication there is a limit (and I know Churchill kids who applied to more than 8).

OP, which school are you talking about and we can look it up for you.

TJ. No limit. Although I have heard a couple teachers won’t write recs if you are going for more than 10. Guidance says the average is about 12. But lots of kids ED and do 1 and lots go crazy.

My kid is doing 9. We were aiming for 10 when we started the process and I like the way his list shaped up. Lots of matches and schools that don’t traditionally see a lot of TJ apps. Like half of TJ, he’s already in at Pitt, which is his safety. I think he’ll have some nice options. And Pitt is actually phenomenal in his little area of science in conjunction with the Carnegie Museum. It could be where he ends up. But I’d like smaller.

Here's the language from the Whitman CIC online. No mention of a limit on applications.

OP this was easy to find for Whitman - if Whitman isn't your school have you looked at the school website for information?

Our W school has a limit of 5 transcripts with no charge. More than that, they charge $5 per transcript. Maybe you or your kid misunderstood?

I don’t think they even imply there is a limit. You don’t need to push back. Just select the schools and request the transcripts.
