No. I moved to NYC. After I couldn’t hack it there, I moved back to DC, where I was raised.

I mean, at 33 I wish I was living in California. (Mostly I just wish I was raising kids with family within driving distance) Realistically though, I needed to experience something completely different and be out of my comfort zone. California is a big state, but it was all too close to home for me, so I’m glad I got to spread my wings.

I went to grad school in Hanover and somewhat surprisingly several classmates (all from other places) ended up staying in the area.


My best friend lives in Hanover and she says the town is full of Dartmouth alums who moved there to retire.

Moved a lot as a kid so the state in which I graduated HS (CT) wasn’t really “home” to me. Went to college OOS (PA) and my parents moved states (KY, NJ, and then FL) in the process. I decided to move to DC after college graduation because I had some friends from here and knew I wanted to work in non-profits, so this made the most sense. Been here since.

born and raised in Maryland, went to rural Wisconsin for college. Stayed there for another two years. Moved to DC for grad school, stayed for 11 years total. Now in a god-forsaken southern "city" and cannot wait to get back to DC.

I went to college 20 miles away, across state lines (Think a FFX kid who goes to Georgetown). Stayed in the city for a while. Left for grad school and finally settled here.

Sent our kid to school to a region she and we like. Not DC.

Grew up in Massachusetts.
Went to Virginia Tech
Returned home for about 6 months
Came to DC in 1987 for a ONE year internship.
Still in the DC area.
Will be moving when we retire.
