It doesn't matter if more police are on the streets. What's more important (and not happening) is changing the type of policing and restructuring how offenses are handled. MPD needs to bring back vice (which was disbanded in 2015) to crime hot spots like Shaw, Park View, and Columbia Heights. No more leniency, "no papering," and catch-and-release for the many offenders who know they can act with impunity because they'll be free to commit crime with minimal repercussions after release.
Lemme guess you wanna bring back the "good ol' days" when young offenders would get locked up for spitting on the sidewalk and shipped off to chain gangs down south for 10/15 years.

No. I’m referring to a common-sense, happy medium. I’m progressive, I pay my share of taxes, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want police to handle a well-known, recurrent issue to ensure public safety.
Your taxes aren’t nearly as high as they should be.
