family relationships work in various ways.
Ok. If OP has any interest in continuing a relationship with them, then they deserve compensation. Doesn't have to be money. That's how these things work.

but this item can not be sold at the market. therefore it cannot have the same market value as similar items that are actually selling.
the real value of the item is decorative and sentimentalize These are real values and I agree that I would be taking something from
Them but I can not turn around sell this. $13,000 is a lot of money for a decorative item. I could buy a bunch of pretty valuable paintings (abroad) that are likely to increase in value - and that I can sell at any time - for that sum.

The artifact is something like a very large very old (ancient) vase. Not exactly but something roughly like that. I saw things like that on Christie and they sell
For about 20k.
I am sure one sibling wouldn’t mind but the other one would be upset they didn’t take it first. However nobody would want to donate it I am sure about that. There is no black market because this wasn’t bought - it was a gift, and it won’t be sold.
What? The artifact and your residence are in the same foreign country?
it’s my vacation home. I live in the USA.
