Curtain

We have a shower with frosted glass in our master. I like it for privacy but hate how it makes a loud bang when you close it.

Shower curtain stays cleaner and moves completely out of the way if you need to access the tub. Those doors are a pain and a tall person has to duck under them.

If it helps, when we were selling our last house the real estate agent sent a designer who gave us a tip for making the curtain look better. Use double layers: vinyl inside and a textile outside. She suggested go to a place like Marshalls or Homegoods and find a white textile one with texture. She insisted on white - no color. It did look nice!

+1. I love the look of glass, but they're a pain. We squeegee after every shower, but they still get etched over time.

That's odd. We have 5 bathrooms, all glass shower or tub enclosures, 6 people living in the house bathing. Granted we don't clean our own bathrooms, but I've never seen etching. Maybe our housekeeper just does a great job. Did you get your glass from one of those prefab kits from Lowes or Home.Depot, or sis you have a glass company come in and do frameless with thick guage glass?

OP - many current trends make life harder. Don't give in to it.

I think sliding doors are hard to clean

Shower curtains look like you picked functionality over beauty.

Shower curtains are like Formica counters. Functional, but ugly.

Right? are they so hell bent on being together at all times they poop while someone showers?

We have 2 bathrooms upstairs and a family of 5 and still manage to allow everyone privacy.

Agree with this. If you are keeping a tub, then no doors. If you are getting rid of the tub, then you could get frosted glass sliding doors or build a half wall and have a frosted glass entry door.

We thought about this when recently remodeling. If we still had little kids and were leaning over the tub at bath time, we would have gone with the curtain. We're past that now though, so we went with glass doors for a nicer look. Maybe that accounts for some of the differences of opinion.

Well yeah, they’re also cheaper, and OP seems to need the functionality.

Plus shower curtains are a relatively inexpensive way to update the decor when you want a change.

We did the same, and later, when we renovated that bathroom, we opted for a shower curtain over a door.

Glass doors are a PITA.

+2
We had to scrape all that putty off after we took out the doors in our full size tub, so annoying. We’ll be putting one swinging glass door on our tiny little step in shower in the master bath, but I think I would opt for curtains in most spaces.
