I'd rather have a shorter summer break with more days off throughout the year. We really enjoy the days off during the year and use them to either do something fun or take a needed mental health break, versus towards the end of summer we are kind of bored.

There was a lot of pushback to that proposal. Also, baby steps.

Option 2 all the way. Option 1 is okay, too. But I like the idea of easing in with a shorter week. My kids are always dead tired the first few weeks, even though they go to summer camps.

If they don't start until the day of such a late Labor Day, teachers won't get a paycheck until almost October!

It’s 2 weeks after winter break is over. We don’t need a mini Jan break.

Yes we do. January and February are miserable months. Cold, gray and dreary. I always look forward to MLK day for at least a 3 day weekend. Now there is a possibility of a 5 day weekend? Sign me up! We need something to look forward to!

NP. I agree we need a longer break, but I wish they would move it to President’s day, as they do in DC.

Mid-Jan break. Ending June 11 is too early.

Why?

Because that leaves nineteen more days of June to go.

That's not a reason, that's just arithmetic.

I was told there would be no math.

I like option 3 best. We’re a two teacher family and will have one child in HS. The early start is what we’ve seen benefits kids taking AP exams.

Starting with a short week is great, Labor Day or no Labor Day.
