DD attends Ashburton. Third grade. We love it. Our neighborhood is very friendly; lots of kids. DD met several kids on the playground during the preschool years, so she knew people once she got to school. It is overcrowded and that's not my favorite thing, but it doesn't seem to bother my kid. The new addition and enlarged APR have helped a lot. We've also had really great teachers so far. DD has some learning issues, and they are taking it seriously and working with her and staying in contact with us.

We live in the area and our child goes to a religious private school (zoned for Ashburton). On our block, there are a good number of school-aged kids (although mostly middle school/high school). There are a couple other private school families on our block, but mostly public (I would venture 75% public and 25% private)
neighborhood is fine, but not particularly friendly. We lived here for a long time before school, and never found the playground particularly friendly either... A lot of kids we knew went to daycare together at one of the places on executive drive or by the mall, and those families continue to be friendly with eachother.
FWIW, I see the MCPS busses around 8am for middle school (I think??) and there TONS of kids getting on them. Like it seems the two stops (maybe 2-3streets apart) that I pass would be close to an entire bus load.

I live not far from there. I have friends. Because these friends and I have children roughly the same ages, we talk about how our kids are doing and how they like school. It's not actually that hard.
