The only way Superintendent/BOE could do this and be acting in the best interests of the students is if the principal has done something so egregious that it merits immediate removal.
So, which is it, was she removed? Or does BOE literally not give a damn about BCC students, faculty, and staff?

MCPS probably didn’t anticipate that Dr. Williams would take Dr. Zarchin and Scrivens with him. Whether she’s deserving of the promotion is another story, but she applied for the job. Hard to know how much competition she faced. All I know is that they better get it right with her replacement. The fact that they’re delaying until spring tells me they want to promote someone who is already at a school and don’t want to disrupt another school. Wonder who they’ve got in mind.
Sorry to be so out of touch - Williams is now sup't of Baltimore Public Schools (as of May19) & took Zarchin/Scrivens with him. So they've been running an internal process to replace those folks since May & just announced now, after school starts?

you can't compare a MS and HS principal.
This former MS/HS teacher with children at Westland/BCC agrees with the assessment above. Serino = strong; Jones = not strong, in my opinion. See prior threads about poor staff morale at BCC HS. Not certain assessments of Jones matter much anymore, however. Curious to see who's coming in.
Anonymous wrote:Just texted with my child after school & teachers were gossiping about it at school. Sounds like all at BCC think it's a promotion.

This is a removal.
New building addition, principal in charge of construction.
What happened?
I think it’s just weird timing. The principal of Wims was also moved to that same role which was announced today and they’ve been trying to get him into central office for years because he’s amazing. There were a ton of central office folks who abruptly left and they had to fill the roles and the timing is unfortunate. I would not take it as a removal given what I know about the Wims principal.
Different situation. Wims principal is being groomed to be a superintendent. He moves around and when his resume is sufficient, he will move on.
