Under the bed rolling boxes. From ikea. However, just want to throw out there that my kids don’t have a dresser. All their clothes go under the bed.

We have one of those hanging shoe organizers (similar to this - https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20421033/) on one side of the closet - in there go pants, shorts, pajamas, underwear and socks. (the later two inside a bin from Ikea - https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00428568/).

All the tops are hung in two levels in the closet, top for regular clothes, bottom for uniforms. Or you can do long sleeves on top, short on the bottom, etc. All the outterwear is in our hallway closet, including heavy sweatshirts. A bin on top of the closet for out of season stuff, and a bin on bottom of the closet for things that are too small.

We do not have a dresser for him, as i find they get too messy.

Try fitting fleece hoodies,pullovers, pants, jeans in 3 drawers along with the rest of the clothes like t shirts, underclothes, pjs and see how many fit.

Does he have socks and underwear in drawers? I put my son's socks in a bin on top of his dresser. Underwear can go in a bin in his closet. They can be tossed in, no need to worry about tidiness.

Regarding hanging t-shirts, I do that too. Much easier to find what you're looking for. I mean, 6 in one, half dozen in the other, really.

When the dresser is filled with in season items, it's time to weed out see stuff. Everything in current rotation is in the dresser. Hand me downs that don't fit yet are in one bin, sorted by size. Out of season stuff that still fits is in another bin. Anything that's outgrown gets put into a large box until the box is full enough to bring to donate.

My three kids play so many sports that rotating out by season doesn't work in the colder months! No way she's going to wear sweatpants and sleeves to basketball. Our tshirts multiply -- as do the black shorts -- and none of the soccer socks that have mates appeal to anyone. I've gone to a big bin of soccer socks in the linen closet, otherwise no one would be able to close their sock drawer.

We hang what we can and I take out things that aren't appropriate, but lately I've just tried not to do too much laundry at once! If it is all clean, it doesn't fit in there.

OP, how old is your kid and how big is his dresser?

Is there any space under his bed?

No not socks, but I do hang every t shirt. We don't accumulate t shirts. I LOVE pulling them out of the dryer and hanging them up. No wrinkles!

I think people tend to like the same pieces, so no need for a ton of clothes. I think people feel better with less superfluous stuff.

Same problem. He only has a small dresser and as he gets bigger so does his clothes. I gave up and put a plastic bin under his bed for the things that he rarely wears like long sleeve shirts (he only wears theses when it is really cold) and thermal stuff for skiing. You could do this with seasonal things.

I live in CA, where you wear the same clothes all year long, and I hear your pain, OP.

I DO take some sweaters and put them in a bin in the closet. I hate hanging, so I don't do that. I constantly pull out clothes my DD doesn't wear or has grown out of bc sometimes old clothes can take up room, unnecessarily.

Maybe buy your son a small little drawer set from Target and put it in his closet where he can keep socks, underwear, smaller things. OR, just replace his bureau with a much bigger one?
