This is OP. Thanks for everyone’s responses. I’m just trying to get a sense for what other schools do. We only have 15 minutes to process the car line and get everyone inside and it’s always tight, and yet our principal is sending reminders about tardiness. I’m wondering how reasonable it would be to ask him to open the doors 5-10 minutes earlier.

Tier 1. Staff is outside to supervise line up at 8:35. Bell rings at 8:50. Indoor line up when it’s raining, snowing or below freezing

Doors open at 9, kids enter classrooms at 9:15 (after lining in gym or outside classrooms), class starts at 9:25.
