If I was worried about identification, it would dramatically limit my posts. I certainly don't want it to impact my kids in any way. I feel much more comfortable asking DCUM for help and trying to help others when anonymity is assured.

I think anonymity is one of the best features of DCUM. As for following long threads, occasionally (when it seems relevant), I'll identify myself as a previous poster on that thread with the date and time of my previous post.


+1. As soon as I post something in the VA Public Schools forum identifying which school my kids attend, something in the Kids with Special Needs forum about one of my kid's special needs, and then post something in the Jobs forum that identifies my career, I would be very easily identifiable to anyone who knows me.

I've done both. The explicit forum is dead and 99% pointless.

Other posters have explained it many times. If I post with a name in schools, then in real estate, then travel, then about youth sports, and THEN about something sex related...it's all over.
