Millie Bobby Brown, the actress from Stranger Things, has a new line of makeup out at Ulta called Florence by Mills and it's for young girls. Looks cute--lipgloss, cream blush, tinted moisturizer. Seems perfect for a natural look.

This one is pretty for most young girls. It goes on a sheer pink and adjusts to your pH but never gets too bright.

OP, there are definitely a lot more lip products available now than in the past. Any thing that is described as a liquid lipstick or has the words matte cream, or lacquer in it is probably too opaque for a teen wanting the natural look. Lip oils will be sheer and the gloss won't be as sticky as regular lip gloss. But every makeup line carries glosses that could work for your daughter. Some of my favorites:

I don’t like wearing a lot of makeup and I like it to feel very natural. I’m a fan of the Burt’s Bees glosses, but I also really love the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bombs—they’re flattering on pretty much every skin tone and comfortable to wear. (And I think it’s a cool brand, too.)

What shade of Baby lips do those that have used it recommend? I want to surprise a 12 year old fair blonde- I think she would love it!

Glossier and Colourpop have lots of stuff. Colourpop is all very affordable. For target /cvs, NYX butter glosses are nice and come in fun shades and neutral shades.

Take her to Ulta and Sephora and have her try some. They've always got samples - usually the more expensive brands but she can get an idea of what colors she likes and then get the cheaper ones. You can also take her to the makeup counters at Macys/Nordstroms/etc. I've found the makeup ladies are usually pretty good with color choices.

You might also think about a subscription box like Birchbox or Ipsy. My DD LOVES them.


Recently, I took my teenaged DD for a makeup lesson with Marti at Tica Beauty https://www.ticabeauty.com/ in Falls Church It was $75 for the lesson and she did a fabulous job. She explained to my DD why she did what she did, talked to her about brushes, tools (and never to share with her friends) and talked about everything from what to avoid to eyebrow shaping. There was no pressure to buy her products but we did get some really good products. the look was nicely natural and I really appreciated my DD hearing from someone other than her mother what DD should avoid.
