Marin is expensive and the only way to get into the city if you work is by car over the GG bridge or ferry. There is a big culture difference as well. East coast is much more traditional and Bay Area more loopy or radical, depending on your crowd. Food definitely better in SF area.
How is work life. Outside of big law, DC seems very 9-5. I hear Bay Area is 60 hr work weeks, but you work in dribs and drabs from wherever, so like WAH when wake up, in office 10-3, then afternoon off for recreation and family, then work like 3 hrs in evening at home. And always some work on weekend, but like 4 hours in the morning sat and sun. So work and life blend, but it feels manageable b/c of flexibility???
