As an example, at our AAP center each grade has about 3 AAP classrooms and 2 general Ed classrooms. You can imagine how the general Ed kids feel, being in the minority.

AAP is a joke of a system used by UMC white and asian families away from the poors and hispanics

if your kid isn't smart you can appeal and game the system until you win

it's complete bs and a symptom of the overall inhumaneness of this area

It is a really terrible system for children and feeds the hyper-competitive narcissism of this area. We live in a different jurisdiction where this doesn't exist and the gifted kids manage to get what they need without all the childhood drama. They all meet up at the same universities, but Kid 1 had a happy childhood, while Kid 2 is burned out and has an artificially inflated ego or suffers from imposter syndrome.
