Mackage makes beautiful coats. I dispute the bathrobe comments - I think wrap coats are elegant as long as they are high quality. For a more structured profile, Smythe and Burberry...

Max Mara coats are lovely but they are not warm. Many of them are the wrap style, and they have no buttons, so they are difficult to walk in (like a bathrobe). They are frequently also unlined. If you want a MM coat with buttons that is heavier and lined, you will exceed your budget.

Wool coats with buttons isn't exactly a reference point. There are so many styles, cuts, and excellent designers to choose from but go off.

I always love the coats made by Soia & Kyo. Stylish and also warm. I just looked and they don't have their winter coat collection out right but you can check come fall time.
