Doubletree has been consistently good in my experience.

Those Doubletree warm chocolate chunk and walnut cookies tho...

Not to get off topic, but every time I travel over the weekend I end up in hotel with travel sports team in town for some tournament. What is the benefit for a kid of being on a travel sports team? Do you travel every weekend in season?

Residence Inn by Marriott is my go to. We get the 2 br/2 ba suites. Sink & mirror are outside of the bathroom. Nice kitchen with a full size fridge. You have your own entrance, no noisy hallways filled with soccer girls. They were great when we needed to travel for sports.

I used to like Hampton Inns but they can be iffy. We are on an 8 week road trip and our favorites are SpringHill Suites by Marriott and Holiday Inn Express. I have sworn off local smaller hotels. I'll do cool historic ins but unless they were built in the last five years - no indie cheaper ones. HHI has better pools on the average as well. Last one...had a awesome water slide. And two washers!!!

For one or two nights I almost always go with Hampton or Fairfield.

My mom would agree. They are lovely.

Writing this from a holiday inn express. Very clean and comfortable and I also usually prefer Hampton inns.

Hampton Inn is a favorite of mine too but we had a bad experience at the one near BWI for a late arriving flight.

Yes! This was my go-to until the one in my hometown closed. Now we stay at a Hilton Garden Inn, which is pretty nice.

We travel 2-6 times a year to Cincinnati (my wife has a medical specialist team there that has been treating her since 2003). We are Marriott Rewards members and prefer Marriott properties.

We like the new Residence Inn in St Clairsville, OH for our midway stopping point. It's very clean and modern. We get a 2 bedroom suite for a very reasonable price and the kids can have a bedroom and we can have a bedroom. Also, since I'm always hyped up on caffeine for driving when we get there, it takes me an extra hour or two for it to wear off and for me to get sleepy so they can all go to sleep and I can stay up in the sitting area until I'm ready to go to bed. Then in the morning, the kids wake up and can play in the sitting area since they get up about 30-60 minutes before I do. Much nicer for us.

Homewood Suites in Denver...recently had the panorama mountain view room...one of my favorite hotel experiences ever. Almost as good as an airbnb.
