You're confused because the education system has failed you. It's ok. That's exactly what this post is about.

If it's not a turning lane, slower traffic keeps right. Period.

If you're cruising in the left lane and there's nobody behind you, fine. But if someone's coming up, you move over right. There's no excuse.

Unless the right lane is crowded and you are still going at a faster speed and therefore passing those in the right lane. I can't tell you how many times someone who wants to go 90MPH is up my butt when I am passing those in the right lane.

You pass someone slower, move over for someone faster, and get back to pass others. Not a complex process really. That's the problem with your stance since you can say you're always passing someone on right. There's someone faster, move on and let them be. Simple.

Fine, then they should do away with all left exits then, as well as left turns for that matter. I'll go 10-12 mph over the limit for a few minutes if I absolutely have to so I don't get rear-ended but apparently I don't have the right to be there at all if someone is doing 75 in a 55 behind me, usually 2 feet from my bumper. Even if I'm turning left in a tenth of a mile. Yet somehow I'm the inconsiderate, entitled one with an American attitude problem? Okay.

You should speed up to pass and then resume your cruising speed after you’re back in the right lane. Basic driving etiquette here.

Also, while the left lane is a passing lane, it is still subject to the same speed limit. I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who are irritated just because they can't go 15 or 20 miles over the limit. I try to stay out of their way, of course (while hoping that they get pulled over and ticketed for reckless driving), but that's also very dangerous driving. You don't actually have the right to go 80 in a 55. I have no idea if there is any difference in how often Americans speed v. other countries, but there are a lot of people who get annoyed that the left lane isn't open for them to drive at unsafe speeds.

The above is very true. It is amazing how many people think they have the right to go 80+ in a 55 zone. It is not at all the same as doing a little over 60 to pass a slower driver in the right lane.

I know people think they are smarter than the law, but speed limits exist for a reason.

Are you a cop to enforce those limits? If not, move over and out of the left lane when someone comes behind you at 80+. Simple, right? Two assholes don't make a right.

Bruh, Europe is superior in every aspect. Relax. I've also seen people treating the left lane as a regular lane in no traffic. OP is right.

Why wouldn't you live in Europe then, if it's so superior in every aspect?

Who says I don't? Guess Europe doesn't have internet.

The only thing you need to worry about: stay right, pass left

Then the scary people who drive faster than 55 mph will leave you alone.

Stay out of the left lane, a-hole.

That's not what OP said. How can you spread if 4x more cars are in left than in right? That's what OP is saying. Why is this a trend outside of conditions/traffic.
