Peninsulas and islands only date when the shape is funky and they look like the helm of a spaceship. Do them with classic materials and straight right angles and they won't date.

Thanks for sharing, really nice. These are similar floorplans (and square footage) as our rowhouse's kitchen and dining room. Can you post the full house listings? We are in need of ideas for our renovation (probably not for another couple years).

DP. I really LOVE that first one!
I think the trade-off with the first one is no overhang but you gain all that wonderful storage underneath. And for me, when I was a young mom, I only used the overhang for pulling up stools when making cookies with the kids. Because of this house's layout, the dr table is right there so I would have just moved the cookie helping crew to the dr table for our work. Having that full peninsula though means you now have a built in buffet table, too, for when you have a dinner with a lot of guests. Really cute kitchen!

OP here. I love the first one too. Unfortunately our kitchen is narrower than the dining room and so not the same layout, but I do like the style of that kitchen. I was also thinking that the peninsula would serve as a buffet too, and then we can get rid of the buffet table we currently have in our dining room and finally have room for a piano. Win win.
