I loved my q7 until it hit 100k and then the maintenance began averaging 1000 per month. We have an A4 and A3 and they have been much more reliable. I ended up replacing my w7 with a Honda CR-V which is much lower maintenance but hardly any fun at all...

My Saab has been very reliable....but then again, they went bankrupt a while back so cannot get new Saabs anymore.

The last new Saab is being sold this month

We have a Benz GL and it's very reliable bit we had it a long time. We bought it outright so no payments. Thinking of switching to Q7 vs new GLS for our new car, but not if it's always going to be in the shop.

US News ranked Q7 over GLS for best luxury 7 seater so I'm asking.

The 2020 GLS will be a resign and will have a new engine. You won’t get it for less than MARIO which will probably be close to $90k all in. The Audi is significantly cheaper. Also, the 2019 GLS will look outdated by the end of the year.

It was a fantastic car and fun to drive. I've had my Q5 for 9 years now, and it's dying. It had major issues the first couple years (all covered, thankfully) but now needs some expensive repairs (oil leak, cracked engine mounts, etc.). It's a shame, because I love it.

How much are they quoting for an engine mount? Because with a Toyota, replacing an engine mount is a five minute job using a $15 part. It should be an extremely simple job

I love LOVE love my 18 month old Q5, but I suspect to roll it over into a new one at year 5 to avoid expensive OOW repairs down the line. My other car, a Saab 900, is is 26 years old; I suspect keeping the Q5 that long would lead to bankruptcy.

One caution: just because you're paying more doesn't mean you get the latest safety/tech features (ACC, lane assist) unless you pony up for Prestige trim. These incredibly useful features come on mid level CRVs.

I’ve owned an Audi and a Mercedes. My MB ML (I think they use a different model number now) was always in the shop and was a true money pit. I will likely be buying a Q7 before the end of the year. I will never buy another Mercedes. Life is too short to waste so much time at the dealership!
