I'm so sorry that your child suffered harm, OP, and I'm astounded by your kindness in asking what severance to pay the nanny while you are in this position. I myself would be probably pondering how to best torture the nanny before brutally murdering her and her loved ones.

The OP has a child in the hospital with a serious injury. You speculate 1) that a pool was involved; 2) that the pool was a backyard pool that was not sufficiently protected and that 3) the OP is more at fault than the nanny. You have none of that information, but you choose to assume the worst- based really on nothing, and pile guilt on a mom who is probably already feeling incredibly neglectful and awful in her hiring choices. You are really an awful person.

OP never said it was a pool. Everyone is assuming pool but it could just as easily be riding a bike without a helmet and the kid broke an arm or leg and is under observation for a concussion.

OP gave no details. Everyone is speculating.

Almost drowned because of temp negligence fits these facts. Not police reportable if she was zoned out for under ~5 minutes, but that’s still way too long by a pool as her charge learned the hard way. Glad your kid is OK, OP!
