Very far left compared to Fox News, but centrist compared to general US sentiment. A lot of us agree with the things AOC is championing.

"A lot of us...."
Interesting, that an internal poll commissioned by the DNC doesn't show what you are saying.

The poll — taken in May, before Speaker Pelosi's latest run-in with AOC and the three other liberal House freshmen known as "The Squad" — included 1,003 likely general-election voters who are white and have two years or less of college education.

These are the "white, non-college voters" who embraced Donald Trump in 2016 but are needed by Democrats in swing House districts.
The group that took the poll shared the results with Axios on the condition that it not be named, because the group has to work with all parts of the party.
The findings:

Ocasio-Cortez was recognized by 74% of voters in the poll; 22% had a favorable view.
Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — another member of The Squad — was recognized by 53% of the voters; 9% (not a typo) had a favorable view.
Socialism was viewed favorably by 18% of the voters and unfavorably by 69%.

Capitalism was 56% favorable; 32% unfavorable.
"Socialism is toxic to these voters," said the top Democrat.

Ha. That Axios poll was a rightwing plant.

Republicans have been manipulating our media effectively. It helps they have a huge propaganda machine with Fox and Limbaugh and Breitbart and other rightwing-billionaire funded media outlets.

I grew up a Republican. Voted for GHWB. No more.

Where is this AOC rally? She’s great.

It is a fundraiser for Jamie Raskin's Democracy Summer, but donations are optional. Ticket reservations are free.

I am not as far left as AOC but I have no problem with this. Democracy Summer is a summer internship program run by Raskin's office to give young people experience in government. AOC like it or not appeals to young people. I like that Raskin has had only good things to say about other Democrats, from Pelosi to the "Squad." He's always been smart, upbeat, and an effective legislator and we need more people like him in office.

Hear hear. I agree

1. Bad source. Of course the DNC is going to land there. AOC is making the establishment uncomfortable.

2. People say “socialism” is bad, but love the socialist policies. Healthcare, schools, infrastructure/roads.

...Until they find out it isn't really free.

Paying for things directly isn’t free. Sometimes it’s better to just pool money and pay for it together (government also socialism).

AOC is holding a rally with Jamie Raskin in (the People's Republic of) Silver Spring. Tickets are sold out.

Raskin IMO has been rather unclear about whether he's with the Pelosi wing or with the AOC wing of the Democratic Party and maybe this is the answer.

Nut meets nuttie.

Stand up Democrats and support the outrage. AOC had the courage to, stop trying to polarize yourselves and get it together. She , and the rest of the " squad" are not left wing radicals- stop allowing yourself to be swayed by right wing rhetoric.

Nope, Obama did the same thing, but somehow the media missed it back then.

Instead of truly needing political asylum (which they could get in Mexico), these folks are venue-shopping economic migrants.

I'm personally not interested in seeing my country be a communist free-for-all for the world to show up and ruin. AOC is.

This is true, if you define "us" as "white people who didn't go to college and voted for Trump in 2016."

But why would you do that?

I'm wondering what "heavily church-y" means. There are certainly a lot of religious institutions way out New Hampshire Ave north of Randolph Rd, but plenty of them aren't churches, and the ones that are, are very diverse.
