58/30

Good for him.

bite me

NP. You were going 58 in a 30? In a residential area? And you seriously don’t think you should get a recklessness driving charge? Honestly, I hope they give you jail time.

Can you read? Please seek counseling

NOT ONCE DID I SAY I WAS NOT SPEEDING

I had a reckless driving ticket in VA. Hired an attorney, cost me $950.00, he made we take a 3hr safe driving course, appeared before a judge who fined me $150.00. Do hire an attorney, this will be quite intimidating in the court, also, check your mannerism and try sounding apologetic.

Sounds like this is a spot where folks are known to speed if the officer had a radar gun with several other cars pulled over. Wondering if someone in the neighborhood called in a request for them to monitor cars driving through.

Good luck. You'll need it.

If so, then good for that neighbor. I live in a residential area where people fly down the road. There are kids playing in the area; a couple of school bus stops; pedestrians walking. Sounds like the area needs a permanent speed camera.

Here is the story:

I was on my way to my way to work after dropping my son off at daycare, the cop was in the bushes of a neighborhood in McLean with a speed radar gun

I see him walk out of the street, then signal me down to pull over. There was about 3 cars pulled over for the same thing.

So I pull over, he tells me a I was speeding, then writes me a ticket for wreck less driving and boom

Most of the McLean “speed traps” are 25 (eg Kirby between Great Falls and Rt 7 0r Old Chesterbrook from the bridge to Westmoreland). I can’t think of a place that is 30. I know 25 ad 35 all over the place. Where was this?

lets start here

1. I NEVER ONCE said I was NOT in the wrong
2. Of course, I deserved the ticket
3. I wrote "bite me" because NONE of the people responding are being of use

anyway, I just wanted to see what the OUTCOME was at court...period

not asking you to read me a moral standard guideline

that's how you came across.. OK, here's some advice, try to be more contrite in court. People won't have much sympathy for someone speeding that much in a residential area.

Agreed, and you are right op people are not being helpful. But you are really not going to get a lot of empathy and help when your responses read as short and frustrated. Unfortunately it will be hard for this thread to get back on track... I would talk to an attorney who can help you understand likely/possible outcomes.

To be fair, OP got the best and only advice for someone in her position from the first responder.

Anonymous wrote:I was stopped by a police offer with a speeding radar, 30 something in a residential neighborhood

Anyway, has anyone had to go to court for this? If so, what was the outcome?

So “30 something” changed to going 58 in a 30mph zone? If the neighborhood part is true, the posted speed wasn’t higher than 25.
In any event, the police have discretion to tack on reckless anytime. But for 20+ over, it’s standard.
To OP, get a lawyer and slow down.

Something tells me this wasn't your first, or second, or even third time being a jackass in your douchemobile on a residential road (or any road). Good luck.
