The Costco ones are a different brand. They’re great bottles though, and I like the lids.

I did. I ended up getting the 24 ounce version and she is loving it! I went with the smaller size b/c I do expect she'll want to take it to school and her backpack is already insane. She participates in an indoor sport and it turns out most of her teammates also have that size. She reports that it does a better job at keeping her water cold than her swell.

But why specifically are these kids wanting Hydroflasks? Lots of water bottles do all that, but several posters mentioned that their tween/teen girls had been repeatedly asking for Hydroflasks by name.

I guess I just thought it was funny that brand-name water bottles are now the hot items. In the 80s, my 13-year-old friends and I were saving up for Guess jeans and Swatch watches! We certainly weren't thinking about anything as practical as durability.

Because, frustratingly, all of the Bethesda moms on here just automatically buy their girls the brands of jeans / dresses/ shoes / etc. and so they don't have to beg for those, so they can beg for a $40 water bottle

My 12 year old just got one. She was obsessed with wanting one-the darn Hydroflask saga went on for a good month in our house. She finally saved up the $40 (!) from doing random chores for me.

We went to Dick's and she got the 32 oz one. She's at sleepaway camp this week and we just got a picture of her (through the camp) and she's sitting on a picnic table with her friends and all their 32 oz Hydroflasks. Lol

Our younger DD wanted a 32 oz one, but I thought this size would be too big/heavy to carry around until I dropped off her sister at the bus for sleep away camp and saw many kids with the 32 oz one. I was told that the kids are out in the sun most of the day and need lots of H20 to stay hydrated. I'd get the 32 oz one.

No water fountains for refill?

My daughter has this on her bday list... I didn't know what it was, she has two Swells and another large thermos.

Our kids also has the 24 oz. we went from a klean kanteen to klean kanteen insulated. But the spouts were screw top only then so we when my elder daughter lost hers, we tried the hydroflask and soon all of us converted as well. We agree too that the spouts gets cuffed easily with teethmarks if your kids bites on them just a little.

NP. Could you please tell me where you found the straw top lid? My daughter would like one but all we can find is the click-lid and the regular screw top. Thank you!

Because it is not rubbery like camelbaks, the teethmarks show over time on the plastic spout so I got my daughter replacements from amazon.
I think some of the sports shops have it too but the markup is quite a bit.

Wholefoods has them.

DD and DS have the 12 oz size with a straw lid. They got them when they were 5 and 7 while we were visiting my brother in Bend. SIL just bought both kids the 24 oz size. They are both happy with it. They are now 8 and 10.

Hydroflask is from Bend, so that is why we have the brand.

This is what we gave my 11 year old for her birthday. She was asking for it non stop, and I thought it would be a perfect gift she could actually use.

They're the "Guess jeans" of the moment to my daughter.
We have a cabinet full of Swells and Nalgenes but she spent her birthday money on a Hydroflask.
