Huh? I drove on it yesterday - they patched some places, but it's still really awful and incredibly bumpy, both north and south bound to 495.

Its not NEARLY as bad as it was.

Hopefully you were able to enjoy the fireworks, because that’s likely the most any of us will see of the money needed to repair the GW Parkway.

The fireworks is for the entire nation to enjoy. So yea I'm okay with spending money on it instead of on GW Parkway.

WTF?

Investing in country’s infrastructure vs. fireworks?

NP.

Anonymous wrote:^ realized I phrased that poorly. I mean GW Parkway is worse going to/coming from 495/Maryland, than further down.

I rarely drive the Parkway north of Spout Run so I can't comment on this.

But, I commute daily from Mount Vernon estate to the 50 West/Memorial Bridge Exit and will say that the Parkway south of Old Town to the mansion is a mess, both directions. The road surface is concrete not asphalt and potholes are common as well as sections of concrete that are buckled and uneven. I've driven this route for almost thirty years and can't recall the Park Service ever resurfacing the road. Potholes are filled with what looks like asphalt but it appears to be temporary.

And, don't get me started on the impact of the Metro closures south of National Airport and the reconstruction of Memorial Bridge have had on commute times......

Honestly, what are you talking about? The fireworks were for the nation’s enjoyment? And what % of the population watched them? Mind you, the last time we had that much smoke in the city the British were invading.

The smoke was mostly due to weather/humidity not amount of fireworks.
