I too hate haggling over money but I also don't babysit for fun. Last time they came home tipsy and I think that's why they didn't pay for the last half hour. So I feel like I couldn't let it go this time. Plus if you manage to spend hundreds of dollars a month on nights out, you can afford to pay your babysitter properly.

Personally, I treat others how I'd like to be treated. When I go out I always tip more than less. Being stingy doesn't look good on anyone especially when you're otherwise spending money left and right.

Sounds like this family just isn't a good fit for you anymore OP. When I babysit, even when I'm paid through a transfer or cash app, most people round up quite a bit. You could also start getting paid through one of those apps and you can send payment requests for exactly what you're owed. No rounding up, but at least you know you won't get shorted.

OP here : I'll look into it since I don't care about rounding up. I just want to be paid fairly.

I used to babysit for someone at night who would literally come back on the hour. I swore they used to sit in the car to use every minute.

When I was young, if someone was cheap, I wouldn’t accept their job. Now, as a parent, I almost always round up. However, have there been a couple times when I came home late, tipsy, and paid a dollar or two short? For sure! Would it be weird if my babysitter texted me to tell me that? Lol, yes! I would pay them and not use them again.

I think the 15 min increment is weird too

You would not use someone again beccause they stood up for themselves and didn't let you short them? You're awful.

Wow, how drunk do you get where you can't calculate what you owe, rounding up?

Because you come home drunk, you think it's ok to short their pay and wouldn't use them again if they told you that you didn't pay them enough?
