Y'all funny. Find areas with great schools of 8+. The rating will give you an idea of what kind of people will be in your neighborhood. It's McLean, Bethesda, Chevy Chase etc

Parades for every holiday, classic car show, movie night and bounce house in the summer at st Paul park, 8k race in the fall, mode train sho, day of the book festival, weekly farmers market at the the train station, I could go on and on. Kensington also has a variety of price points, from as low as $400k to $2 M.

Downtown Silver Spring feels like that, in the actual neighborhoods where there are single family homes and townhomes. Green, neighborly-- not like a city. Then you walk 1/4-1/2 a mile and you have the convenience of a whole range of stores and restaurants. IDGI

Budget? Capitol Hill has all this in spades, but you need $$ to afford the space/non-postage stamp backyard you want.

Del Ray is exactly it, but it'll cost you in housing and private school fees

If you’re the op from the Tyson’s and Rockville commute thread - I’m the one who responded that I commuted from Arlington to Rockville. I live in westover, which depending on where you’re going in Tyson’s should be pretty easy and was doable on an early schedule to Rockville. Mclean like you were considering will be easier though but doesn’t really have the walkable little downtown (though it does have some shops and a little area!). Del Ray wouldn’t be ideal for those commutes.

How far out are you willing to go? We live in Kentlands/Lakelands and our neighborhood is exactly like what you describe.
