Ours are 18 months apart and I LOVE IT! Zero jealousy...my son hardly noticed that the baby came home. They both napped at the same time. They’re 2.5 and just turned 4 and I love it. My friends all did the 2 year.m age gap and had such a hard time! GO FOR IT

4 years apart. Not having 2 in diapers. There is no overlap in HS and college years. Kids don't compete with each other the same way close siblings do and they have a great relationship

I had the same experience being 4 years apart. I feel like the fighting made it worse for our parents than us being distracted by a built-in playmate. However, now we are both in our 20s and are best friends.


I'm female and have a four year older brother. We mostly got along as kids and are still relatively close. I say *relatively* because he ended up being a social conservative (against universal education and healthcare), which I will never be able to understand. We have kids of similar ages and that's been really nice.

Wow. Not only did you manage to shoehorn in something about politics in a post that absolutely didn't call for it, you are also incorrect about what "social conservative" means. Bravo.

22.5 months here and it doesn’t get better, though the first six months is ROUGH!!! Is your first a boy or girl and do you know about the second? Because that changes the dynamics.

Up to 18 months apart, and timed so that they'll be one year apart in school. The high school and college years will be awesome. Same group of friends, similar interests, overlapping classes, etc. My 20 and 21 year old are really close.

My girls are 20 months apart and are now 4 and 5.5. This is our experience. Tough at first but so awesome now. They play so well with each other and are into the same things which makes life easy. Very little fighting (so far...) They are in the same camps and have the same friends. We love it!

But I have friends with different spacing and they love it too. Life is good for their family so I’m not sure it really matters.

I have two under two, same sex. First 6 months were hard but they are so close already and now playing together and making my life easier!

You’ll make any age range work really. And any angle range is tiring. No right answer. I say just start pulling the goalie and see what happens

2.75 years apart with two boys. They are now 2 and almost 5. There are pros and cons. Sometimes I wish they were closer in age b/c they do have a lot of sibling rivalry but maybe that is the age and the gender?

Mine are exactly 2 years apart and I think it's great. I like that the younger does not lag too far behind the older in activities, interests, schedule, etc.

I am the previous poster and forget to add that I got pregnant again when the baby was 6 months. It has been easy for us. They both wake up at the same time, nap at the same time, have the same friends, interested in the same things, etc. they are 4 and 5 now
