Best choice my daughter ever made was making a Baltimore team. Superior coaching and none of the BS that seems to choke all the clubs around here

We do it and know several others who do too. For high school it’s fine because there’s no spring season and in fall it’s weekend practice as well as tournaments.

Oh jeez don't even go there. The nice thing about the Baltimore teams is that the coaches care more about winning than they do about having team parents as their only friends.

If she didn't make Capital, it hardly seems worth it for her to travel that distance for lacrosse, does it?

Skywalkers is really the only Baltimore team that actively takes out of state players and that’s partially because they have a huge attrition problem. The coaches are known for their screaming and insulting players while on the field for all to hear.

I can only speak for Skywalkers but would say it is worth a serious look if you can swing a few months a year of extra time in the car. Great coaching and a more "national" feel as far as more relaxed approach to missing practices if you are out of area and keep up the skills. As far as future development, check latest Under Armour tournament results on insidelacrosse.com for snapshot of Baltimore girls' success.

This isn't really true. Good players get overlooked all the time. You need time, in front of coaches, the best teams will take you to the best tournaments.

Of course if she is on a team that is over her head, she might not get playing time and it is a waste.

All good points! I think finding the right team is so important and that's why I am considering the Baltimore team option.

These are good points. The drive is only bad getting there on the weekdays. The return in the evening is a breeze. And the weekends are pretty easy as most of us know from getting up to Bel Air. So you're really only talking about an extra hour getting there one day a week. That is pretty close to a no-brainer.
