I live across the country from Sidwell and even I can tell this is inflammatory pablum. Flanagan is probably writing a book and needs to up her relevance.
Either you are not telling the truth or you seriously need to get a life on your side of the country. It's bad enough we in DC read this (inconveniently addictive) site.
Oh come on. DCUM has a wide number of readers across the country. Why are you so invested in what any even marginally critical reader can obviously see is clickbait? Does DC have a large number of unusually literal thinkers or something?
DCUM has a resident population of posters who carry grudges. Typical of internet forums as it's the one place where they can vent. See all the racial hang ups. Even on this thread.
Good point. Well, Flanagan has clearly identified a purchasing audience for the book she's undoubtedly working on, so good for her, I suppose. Resentful DCUM parents, you've been market segmented.

Anonymous wrote:Pretty sure there is already a thread on this. Also I am personally skeptical of basically anything that Caitlin Flanagan writes at this point.

I daresay you forgot the infamous Nigerian couple and their lawsuits. Seems like it's probably a rainbow coalition of parents.

Eh. What is she trying to say? I can't quite figure out from the article. Aggressive parents at an elite school in a high-pressure city? That's not particularly new.
I think she's saying that paying $45k in private school tuition no longer guarantees you admission to an elite college and that this is enraging rich, white private school parents and making them do insane things.

+1. Relucatant to say it but one counselor was incompetent and lazy, and his boss was stubborn and became a bit lazy. Godspeed to both, and glad that the SFS college office is being rebuilt.
