Don't snap a carseat into a stroller frame. It increases the chances of both positional asphyxia and positional plagiocephaly for babies to be in a carseat, swing, bouncy seat, or other such "device" for too long of a period. Carseats are for the car, not for use as a stroller seat, infant seat, makeshift bassinet, etc.
The Cruz should work well until your baby is out of the stroller stage. It is a great choice.
If either of you are runners or plan to go "off-roading," you will also need a jogging/hiking stroller once your baby is a little older. If you want to ride your bike with baby, you'll need a bike trailer when the baby is over a year of age. Until then, the Cruz should be fine.
op here. thanks. we don't have a snap in snap out car seat anyway. i agree with you. we only use car seats in the car. our first had to wear a helmet. it wasn't due to being in baby devices but i know that increases the chance.
Excellent! Plagiocephaly can certainly happen even when babies aren't "container babies," but you're right that the chances are higher if they are.
I hate seeing babies spending hours and hours in carseats-- from the car to the stroller while parents shop, to in a restaurant during dinner, back to the car, and so on. It is not developmentally appropriate, and the chances of positional asphyxia and positional plagiocephaly creep up significantly in such situations.
I have an Uppababy Cruz with bassinet and LOVE it. I considered the Vista instead, but I don't need a second seat, nor will I ever need a second seat, so the additional cost of the Vista (still higher even after I added the bassinet to the Cruz) was foolish for my situation.
