Subject: which cities will be the next "hot" cities?
Detroit? I live in the area and it can be decent, but next hot city? We are too dependent on automotive and cannot attract college graduates from other states.

American cities are massive gang ridden hellholes in general compared to everywhere else in the civilized world. The only chance that coastal cities, and many other urban areas have, is gentrification. Until then only a few districts will be liveable, while it's Mogadishu for everyone else.

I thought Asheville and Richmond were already hot, but they may be overrepresented in my social circles.
Agree with Pittsburgh, if it isn't already; great cultural scene, interesting historic areas, lower cost of living (though my relatives there say it's already been increasing a lot).

I think Raleigh is already an "it" city. It's where I'm from and the growth is just crazy...to the point where the infrastructure just isn't there to keep up with it.

Boise is the next Denver CO. Colorado is no longer cheap so people are looking elsewhere and Boise fits the bill
The south is cheaper and people are flocking to get lower costs of living. These 3 cities also have strong growth rates
