I agree that the vast majority of religious people who I meet in the US today are kind and lovely people who go about practicing their own beliefs and use their religion to bring meaning to their own lives. Even those that are annoying in their prostelizing are not really affecting me - I can deal with that.

Disagree. The moderates do not agree with extreme "religious morality clauses" but they may not speak out about them because they are conflicted. They value their own brand of religion, but eschew both atheists and religious extremists.

Not really -- some people are prejudiced against atheists without even knowing any. They learn in church that atheists are bad people, with no morals. Until recently, religious people were defining atheists. That stopped when atheists started to speak for themselves.

No, of course I don't think all of them are -- not even the majority.

But the ones you see on TV, faith healing, asking for money, using their influence for political gain, and that sort of thing -- yes, pure evil. Hard to get over that sometimes.

Judaism (in all forms) says it is forbidden to turn down needed medical treatment. This law since the time of Maimonides, himself a physician.

Judaism even allows for the violation of other holy laws, such as the shabbos, to save a life. thus Orthodox Jewish doctors may work on shabbos (though they should find a gentile back up if they can)
