I am running an independent campaign that will not be beholden to any party and ideologies. I did not seek nor would I have accepted the endorsements of any party, nor am I accepting funding from any of them
I am not doing the bidding for any town and am not prioritizing any town over the other. My platform seeks to resolve:
1) The overcrowding in McLean by finding a long term solution to what will be causing the overcrowding to get worse in the coming decades which is the expansion in Tysons. Do I know that there are others who will not necessarily agree with me on the board? Of course, I do. But that is not a reason not to fight for it.
2) Provide the necessary resources to allow Herndon HS to improve its statewide ratings and standing by trying to level the playing field for its many lower-income students.
3) Keeping all of Great Falls as one town, one community, and one school pyramid.
Western Great Falls belongs at Herndon. While I realize that you politically can't support that, it is the truth. Probably can't be done now because of the crowding at Herndon, but it should eventually come to pass. Unless of course the School Board purposely never builds the western high school. Where do you stand on the western high school?
Do you support expanding West Potomac while there is plenty of room next door at Mt. Vernon?
If the School Board performs its job as a county wide body and does what is right, selfish individual Board members will not get their way.
Representative republics are just that.
But is it working? If it was working properly, the rest of the School Board would have told Karen Corbett-Sanders to pound sand when it came to expanding West Potomac while Mt. Vernon has available space.
My guess is that many backdoor deals are being made to avoid changing boundaries.

Some people who live in Herndon find that plus IB "inequitable" and believe all schools should get the same level of funding with adjustment for poverty/esol.
Everyone gets a say since this is a county wide school division and there are 3 at large members. Nonsense and irresponsibility cross magisterial districts and impact taxes. Everyone would pay for additions at West Potomac while contiguous Mount Vernon has open capacity. Everyone pays for stuff like the extra funding of $1.3 million extra for 2 schools - Hunters Woods in Hunter Mill District and Bailey's in Mason District. Guess what? Some people who live in Herndon find that plus IB "inequitable" and believe all schools should get the same level of funding with adjustment for poverty/esol.

There is a statement about each of the schools. I get that he is trying to please the parents of kids in each school, but the message is inconsistent. This is what I get:
1. McLean is overcrowded, but the parents don't want to redistrict. Answer: maybe temporarily adjust boundaries. Expand McLean or build a new school.
Problem--does he realize that he has to get the approval of a majority of the Board to do this. Does he realize that there are many schools in FCPS that are more overcrowded than McLean?
thin. Herndon has problems--do what the community wants.
Problem is--from reading these forums, it is quite unclear what the community wants.
3. Langley boundaries should stay the same.
I kind of think that is why he is running.
He also mentions transition from feeder schools to middle schools need more coordination or something. Not a bad idea, but is that a platform?
Maybe, it is a work in progress, but I don't see a lot here. But, I don't get a say as I don't live in Dranesville.
