I’ve known one family member who could sew. ONE of my grandmothers. And, yes, she grew up on the prairie. No one else ever needed to sew because of access to seamstresses. It’s not a necessary life skill.

Actually they did. We assembled, sewed, and stuffed our own stuffed animals. They also taught us to do laundry, cook, clean, and wash dishes. Bring back home ec.
