From Amy Klobuchar, who has sponsored at least one of these bills:
“On the Senate floor Sen. Blackburn objected to the passage of my election security bills, saying they have to go through the Rules committee. Here’s the weird (sad) part: A committee mark-up was scheduled on the bipartisan bill and the White House made calls to stop it.“

Ding ding ding.

The bill Trump says he’ll veto also requires reporting any foreign contacts by a campaign to the FBI.

“Senate Republicans blocked three election security bills on Wednesday, marking the second time in as many days they've stymied legislation.

Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Ron Wyden asked for unanimous consent to pass three election-related bills.

But they were blocked by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), who noted that the unsuccessful attempt was the latest by Democrats to pass election security bills in the Senate ahead of 2020.“

Senator Ben Cardin just posted this on FB:

“I just asked for consent to pass my bill, the Deceptive Practices and Voter Intimidation Prevention Act, to combat misinformation campaigns like ones led by Russia to deter minority communities from voting in the 2016 elections. Republicans rejected this request.

In Maryland and other states, Russian-led accounts directed false news stories and information on voting to Black communities in order to suppress their vote. We know Russia is actively working to do it again.

We're running out of time. We need to take action NOW to #ProtectOurElections.

The GOP are spineless dirty doormats. They’re gross and unfit for office since they cannot uphold the constitution!

He’s really just the pustule on the cystic acne that is the GOP. Mercers, Kochs, the rest of those secretive funders of the GOP, people like the Conways, people like Roberts who twist the Constitution to allow crap like Citizens.... McConnell is pretty typical of the GOP.

Tweet:

A few weeks ago, McConnell's political wing debuted "Cocaine Mitch" t-shirts. Now, since Dems are describing him as the "Grim Reaper," Team McConnell now hawking t-shirts emblazoned with a tombstone, embossed with the word "Socialism."

Haven’t forgotten. Reid made mistakes, but McConnell is pure evil.
