Yes, pre-teens and teens. We only do the couples weekend once a year if we are lucky given it’s so hard to coordinate calendars.

Yes, I do girls weekends, once a year, with my law school closest friends.

Yes, I also do trips alone with my husband, while kids stay with grandparents.

We also do family vacations (and in fact are doing one tomorrow night, just one night in a hotel to get away together).

It’s all great. Lots of fun. Time together, time apart. Time with all the people I love, in different settings, in different combinations.

+1 I do all of the above as well. I like nurturing the different kinds of relationships that I have and I’m happy to spend
time devoted to my husband, friends and family through separate trips with them.

Depends on the group. If it's a close group, it can be really fun. However, I don't like traveling with people I don't know well and a larger girls trip would probably not interest me. Too much potential for drama and for it to be boring.

I love girls weekends. But I need my own space.

It's not the same thing but I used to go on a lot of trips to visit friend's in DC. I would take our son. He was 6-2 on the trips. I always had a blast. Go only if you really enjoy the friend's? Otherwise I would take a weekend away for just yourself?

I like them but I'm also a big introvert so by the end of the weekend I am so exhausted and drained by so much talking and forced togetherness. But if we didn't do them, we'd probably drift apart (long distance friends from college).

I enjoy them. I also do mixed-sex outings, but I think I prefer all-female ones more.

Agree it doesn’t have to be either/or. You can enjoy girls weekends AND DH/kid time. No need to be a martyr.

That being said I enjoy getting away with just one girlfriend if it’s a girls weekend. I’m not one for groups. I have one friend who is more fun to go to things like concerts with, another who is better suited to outdoor type activities like hiking. None of my friends are fancy spa or bar and dinner people and neither am I.

I do one with my college girlfriends every year. We’ve all spread out a bit and don’t see each other during the year, but it all feels like it hasn’t been any time at all when we see each other in person again. But this might not be exactly the type of trip that others are talking about since most of the group brings their kids, and we normally stay at campground type places so that the kids have plenty of room to run around in (The husbands are also welcome, but they never come.)
