You should have started years ago. You have raised spoiled baby children.

Yes but in a semi passive aggressive way. My DS who is 14 knows I put the dishes in a certain way but does he ever put them in that way? Nope.

Yes (age 13) - it was always the expectation that they clean up after they eat (rinse plates/cups, load into dishwasher, and wipe the table.) We don't allow dirty dishes in the sink.

They also unload the dishwasher when they get home from school.

My boys knew how to iron, sew, clean house, balance a checkbook and cook. I told them long ago, learn to do for yourself then later when you marry your wife will appreciate the help.

My daughter though ? OMG. Lazy as all hell. I pity the man that gets her.

What do you attribute this to? This strikes me as pretty unusual.

Are you telling me that your 21 year old can't hand wash a pot? What does he do when he is at school?

Curious about this as well. 17 and 21 is well within the range of, "out of the house and independent."

small dishes that can go in the dishwasher--yes, they almost always rinse and put in the DW.

large dishes, pots, pans, etc. that must be hand scrubbed? Rarely. Trying to retrain them, too!

My 11 year old does about half the time. He does his own laundry 100% of the time though.

No, my teen has a fine motor disability and ADHD and I've had to clean up too many porcelain splinters - he doesn't even notice them and then his little sister steps on them and injures herself. It's a damned if you do, damned in you don't situation. This summer, he can try again. I'm not cleaning up broken dishes in the school rush.

No, not without harassment.

Yes. They don’t always rinse them well but neither does DH. None of them wipe counters or the table often after eating. They don’t seem to notice crumbs or food. They will if I remind them. I’m including DH with that.

If they didn't, they wouldn't be allowed to use them.

Yes!

They rinse plates and deal with loading and emptying the dishwasher, same with laundry, emptying the trash through the house and putting it out for weekly pick up, picking up our dog's poops, vacuuming and mop the floors.

anything else?
