It's the miniseries version of Austen's "Emma" -- NOT the feature film but the TV version with Romola Garai and Jonny Lee Miller. Give it a try, P&P fans. I don't think it streams anywhere; you will have to find the DVDs but it's worth it. No, Jonny Lee Miller is no Colin Firth, but then, Mr. Knightley is no Mr. Darcy, and that's exactly as it should be....
Funnily enough I was overseas last week and the only English-language channel in my hotel was showing this version of "Emma" and I loved it! I hadn't seen it before but liked Romola Garai so much better than Gwyneth Paltrow, which was the only other version I'd seen (unless you count "Clueless" which yes, I liked). I was so annoyed when they switched over to Monty Python skits after the 3rd episode so I didn't get to watch it to the end.
This is my favorite version of "Emma" too! The Gwyneth movie was a bit too frothy. The Kate Beckinsale one, Knightly was too grumpy. I love the bantering of Romola Garai and Jonny Lee Miller. He was the perfect Knightly IMHO.
