With friends we know and whose kids I've known since birth, 2.5-3 (but those were situations where I was helped out the parents and happy to do so).

First time with just a drop off playdate this year with kids that just turned 5 (preK4). Mom asked if it was okay and I was totally okay with it -- good kid that I knew would be easy and allowed me to do some dinner prep while they played.

Depending on the situation, I sometimes prefer it.

I have a 3.5 year old and 6 year old. A drop off play date for a 3.5 year old is babysitting. We do it (drop off ours and host other kids), but they're reciprocal favors, not real play dates. Real drop off play dates are usually 4-5/6 years old, depending on the kid.

Rule with my kids was they were allowed to do drop offs as soon as they were completely toilet trained (it had to have been at least a few months since they had an accident). No other parent wants to deal with that.

LOL - I am sure she did!

Signed,

Mom to a 3.5 year old who would LOVE to drop her off for a few hours on the weekend (but won't because that's just cruel to the other parent...)

PK 4 for families I know well. Now I’m K they are all drop off play dates but tend to be more with moms who chat with me at drop off and pick up.0
