I don't think you necessarily have to be tall and thin. There is a heavier woman I see a lot at sporting events. She is immaculately groomed and wears very preppy, well-fitting clothes. She's not classically beautiful, but she clearly puts a lot of care into her appearance and always looks fantastic. Even though she's not skinny, her clothes fit her well. I think that's key - also, wearing classic shapes.

This just isn't true. And I say this as someone who recently went from a normal, not-overweight, tall size 8 to a skinny tall size 2. I'm able to pull off a more fashionable look and clothes generally look better on me now. But men appreciated my fuller body before the weight loss, I think, and I don't look any more elegant. In some cases I look less elegant- what's more feminine and evocative than a curvy figure in a black dress?

Tailored clothes that accent your best features, good posture, and a polite, friendly attitude can make anyone more elegant.

What does that even mean in your 30s/40s? I'm THIN! None of it looks great. I think this attitude is changing. We've seen J. Lo at 50. MY non existent WASP but is not holding on well, thin or not.
