+1, if you’re struggling to get in and out of the car, you shouldn’t be driving...

. It would work for the passenger side too.Anonymous wrote:If you can’t get in the car, you shouldn’t be driving. Too many elderly people are on the road and it’s very dangerous.

Ageism right there. Would you say the same thing to a little person? A paraplegic? No, because they use adaptive devices and can safely drive. To say all elderly people everywhere who may need some help to get in and out of the car shouldn’t drive means you are an ageist.

It's a great idea. It already exists though, and works quite well. OP, did you see the link upthread? (Not the photo the youtube).

What if there would be a car designed to make it super easy. The door would slide to the side like in the case of minvans.. and then the driver and or passenger seat just slides outside of the car booth, and a person just seats on it, presses button and it takes them into the car. woosh.. the door closes, off they go. Once arrive, the car door opens. the seat is pushed outside and they stand up straight onto the road using some sort of side bar that is attached to the seat for support.
With the baby boomers generation aging so fast, there should be someone making a cars like this.
Babies have their car seats, families with small kids have their minivans but elderly has NO specialty car.
You mean like this? It already exists.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Something like in the picture below but waaaaay more advanced. This one has not much to offer because an elderly still need to open the car door which is in the way of getting out or in. If the door would slide to the back and if the car woudld just slide out instead of rotating it would be a game changer. An elderly car also should have a height adjusted to such
that getting up or down would not be an issue.

If you do not have the coordination/ strength to open a car door you don’t have the ability to safely control the steering wheel.
