Take them out for one meal, and then just split the checks at the restaurants.

OP here and this sounds perfect. Thanks!

Yes. This is a great idea.

You seriously need an app for this? Come on.

Nope not a millenial...just got back from a trip to barcelona with a few girlfriends, we just paid bills (food, taxi, drinks, tours, sightseeing) based on whoever had their card handy at the time, and it took 5 seconds to log in the amount, and check who was to be included in the split. At the end of the trip, it gave us one simplified balance of who we owed money to,and we could all check to make sure we agreed. No keeping receipts, adding amounts, trying to remember who was there when we had that icecream, who did not drink that evening, and tallying who owed what to whom. Takes 5 minutes to download the app and add friends, and a few seconds to add in amounts.

Fine with me!

Then why go at all? No one is forcing you!

If I were getting free accommodations, I would pay for all the groceries, and entrance fees for them to any attraction or activity. I would also offer to look after their kids for an evening so they could go out on their own. I think splitting meals out is a good compromise so everyone can order what they like.
