I miss those days. We talked about the damage done to our bodies, very graphically, how we were too exhausted to have sex and what to do about it, husband idiosyncrasies, thinking about divorce vs counseling. You name it.

I have come a long way from my shy and introverted days, and usually can connect with other parents and find topics of conversation, but sometimes... it's uphill work! I can't exactly put my finger on the cause, but occasionally we just don't click, and then it becomes awkward.

This is not to be mean, but do you get that the extroverts/gregarious people often come off as self-focused attention-seekers who are exhausting to be around, and ask personal questions in 2.5 seconds of knowing someone? Do you ever think about toning it down? People might like a break!

Man if you think pleasant conversation about school, play spaces, the weather, the area, other random things you have in common with this person purely by living in the same place and having a child of the same age is being self-focused and seeking attention you need to seek help with the social anxiety. This is not a normal reaction to someone wanting to make normal conversation with you.

Huh? I’m an introvert through and through but I don’t need a “break” from talking to my friends when I’m in public. I take my breaks at home. I don’t make plans with a friend and then need a break from her DURING the play date.
