I found this to be an interesting thread. Why do you folks put up with this? Are you not aware that you are the consumer and that you pick the club as much as they pick you?

Ha ha, enjoy. I have a kid who played his team and I was mortified for the other team the whole time.

Please join even after all this chatter and let us know how it all works out in a few months. This guy has been been around for a while everyone knows his style of coaching, if you are ok with it then fine.

Because he comes across as well organized and caring, but it's not until midway that you see the true colors. SYA is not a bad club, just this one coach for the youngsters.

We are staying with him for U10 and overall, he's not a bad coach. He's a bit rough with the way he talks to the kids and I think it comes down to if your kid can decipher the difference between instruction vs sarcasm. I know my husband and I have had to explain some of his comments to let my son know it wasn't really an attack on him. I do cringe sometimes and have parents from other teams ask why we tolerate him, I guess i'm just thick skinned.

With that being said, lots of parents don't like him.

Well, your ability to judge people sucks...No my kid didn't get cut, but spending 2 seasons with him showed me that i failed at parenting for letting...no wait, paying for someone to treat my son like sh!t wasn't a smart move. Good luck, but you couldn't be more wrong about him.

Good one, they have the same coach. Will sound great to the parents....after a few weeks when you are all paid up, the real guy will show. Trust me, it's been pretty accurate description about the coach and your comment about "reducing" the competition...it's youth soccer not a presidential race.

This guy coaches HS too? If it is, yes, he's well known for his 'people skills'.
