As a mom of small children, I just want one day that's all about me. I don't want to share with MIL, my mom and our 4 grandmas. Sure, this is selfish, but I want my own day, with my own children and I want DH to plan it all. Every other day of the year is focused on caring for other people in my life.

If DH comes through, I’m getting donuts and scratch off lottery tickets. As requested.

My DH will be out of town the entire weekend, so I invited my mom to come spend the weekend with us. She's very hands on, so she'll help with things like getting the kids to bed and all, but we'll also do some fun things like go to Brookside Gardens. My kids are 7 and 4, so it's a bit easier than it's been with quite little kids.

I'm hoping for good weather!

Mothers Day is my birthday this year! DH invited both families over for brunch at our place (he's a really good cook) and I will make a bday cake for myself (which is my choice).

OP here. I can't take my kids to a movie. I have an infant and a toddler. I need DH to help. My toddler doesn't understand what mothers day is about yet. I'd be pissed if DH left me alone to celebrate his mom.

This is why adults shouldn't give up on celebrating their birthdays. You have a day all to yourself (presumably) to make it all about you. It's just looked down upon doing that, which is BS for this very reason. Mother's day, unfortunately, is for all mothers in your life.

I am with them all day everyday. I want ONE day to myself.

Having brunch with MIL and will FaceTime my mother, who lives out of the country. Going to see Ben Platt the night before as my own Mother’s Day treat. I think I am also going to copy the PP who is having Chinese for dinner!

I don't think DH even remembers when Mother's Day is. Like every year it'll be something he'll realize last moment and do something half assed, unlike the nice father's day gifts and celebrations he gets every year. How I wish the order of these events were reversed

I have a 3 year old & a 2 month old this year. Previous years, DH takes us out to lunch (can never go to fancy restaurant, just a small cafe place), and this year I am not sure since 2 kids maybe too much work & all the measles/pollen thing going on. I have asked DH that isn't you are supposed to ask our 3 year old to draw something for me or share a cookie (he loves cookie) with me on mother's day.
