There are no DA or ECNL teams in EDP. Those teams play in ECNL and DA leagues hence the name.

Actually, at least in the U12 age group, I've noticed that some of the upper end teams in NCSL are stronger than some of the lower EDP division teams when they have faced eachother in tournaments. Certainly the highest EDP teams are stronger than NCSL teams but I don't think that's the case top to bottom. Some overlap there. Plus these kids are 12 so obviously consistency is not always there yet.

Maybe at the older ages where all the talent has migrated to ECNL/DA for those NCSL/VPL clubs.

I have to agree. My kid's team loses against the MD teams in EDP, but easily beats the VA CCL teams. The teams/competition has been greater for us in EDP. It may not be across all age group/genders--but it's been our experience for the past few years. We win tournaments against 'tougher non-EDP teams' and get crushed in regular league play. We have experience with CCL CCL2 NCSL and EDP. There was only one other competitive team out of the 8 in CCL for us.

EDP is definetly below the DA and ECNL but the top teams in the EDP are competitive with the top ECNL/DA teams teams and will absolutely wipe the field with the bottom tier of ECNL/DA. Check any major tournament to confirm. As a matter fact, the bottom tier of ECNL is usually not even in the same bracket as the top EDP clubs.
That has been my experience as well.

If YouthSoccerRankings is your thing, ten of the top 20 DMV girls teams at 2008/U11 play in EDP. The rest are split between VPL and CCL, where the top VPL team might be pulling up the rankings of other teams in the league and the CCL teams are only ranked by their public results from tournaments. It'll be interesting to see what the flight to/from DA/ECNL will do in a year or three, as we'll theoretically have some "before" data to go along with the "after" data.
That is a little misleading and also a bit of a self fulfilling prophesy because EDP allows Gotsoccer to track their standings. CCL and NCSL do not. The more data, the higher the rank.
