Agree with all these previous posters. I’m an early childhood educator and that is ridiculous. I would leave that school/daycare.

Punished??? No way.

“Larla, don’t pee in the grass. That is not ok. Please ask to use the toilet.”

She’s only 3. Good lord.

Poor child.
Extra hugs for her tonight OP and let her know she is fine and her teacher is a quack.

Dad here. The way I can reconstruct the story is that 1. She asked to go to the bathroom but teachers did not respond (fast enough). That must have been a while because she can hold her pee quite long. 2. She went to the side and peed, other kids noticed. That's a bit different from pulling down her pants in front of other kids.

The version of the teachers is that they did not notice anything themselves but that other kids told them. Then teachers said they 'investigated' and concluded she did it 'on purpose' and deserved punishment. Thar they did not notice means she really went tot the side or there really is a lack of oversight.

I think the whole CI is overblown and indicates shortcomings on the teachers's side if anything.

This and I would be very upset that she couldn’t find a teacher. I would set up and conference to ask about how kids on the playground are supervised. Let them know you will explain to your daughter the rules. But she’s three - no punishment for the first time.

This, you don't do that at school and failed to teach her there is a time and place for it.

OP here, knowing my child (she can hold pee for a very very long time) and from what the teachers and my child told me, my guess is: she really needed to pee and there was no one around to ask to go to the bathroom, instead of having an accident, she thought wrongly it was better to pee on the grass. And yes she is only 3 y. o. we hadn't had the conversation yet where she can't do that in school (we fixed that) but the reaction was really over the top imo, I was speechless because I felt at the time we were lucky they didn't report her or something.

At this point I will just let it go. She is going to a new school next year but I definitely think that the school didn't manage this well.

Good that you’re leaving that place. They should not have punished her.

This wins for creepiest and most inappropriate response ever. I'm sure it was meant jokingly, but I hate "jokes" about humiliating our teenage girls with childhood stories about their private parts to males in their lives.

This is not at all a story about private parts. Good lord.

DP It may not be but, it would embarrass her anyway. Why would anyone do this?

I agree.

Exactly. It’s basically the main responsibility.

Yeah, and a great story to tell her male boss on her first day of work! And a great story to tell her college advisor when you meet him at Parents Weekend! Let's see who can make her feel the dirtiest.

You mean the story where she removed her underwear at the playground, then squatted down and urinated in front of people?
