OP, from what I read you can get the second shor a month after the first shot, the schedule for the second shot is because they usually vaccinated kids before they join preschool. I would talk to your pediatrician. Just that you would have to get a third shot to be on schedule.
Otherwise I won’t go to the family function. Traveling is overrated and I won’t associate with stupid people. Your first priority is to protect the kid.

OP here - my kid is little so has only had the first round of the measles vaccine. We have an upcoming event with a family of antivaxxers and I'm paranoid about it.

Here, you should just email everyone going to the event as you are the perfect parent and shame them into not coming.. and don't question why your kids are bullies or the mean kids later on.

I'd be worried, because there is an active measles outbreak right now, and measles is really contagious. I might not go. If your kid had received the second MMR, I'd be less concerned, but I still would want to limit my time with them.

OP, I do not think you are being paranoid. Getting vaccinated is insurance but it is not a guarantee against getting infected. This is why we need the safety of the herd getting vaccinated. WHO has identified the decline in vaccinations as one of the world's top health risks.
In your situation, I would not go to the family event, and would not feel even remotely guilty about it. I'm sorry you are being put into this situation by people who are not only putting their children at risk, but also society as a whole at risk.

I have a 6yo who is vaccinated so I dont care.
However, I have a friend who has a a child with Trisomy 18 and she has a compromised immune system and cannot be vaccinated. Now she is scared to take her kid anywhere in public which is seriously impacting her quality of life.
Some people like small babies and people woth compromised immunities are the ones who suffer.
